That brings us to the crux of the matter doesn’t it? American Idol is, without a doubt, a very successful show. That success may be, however, in part due to the fact that it’s a summer show. American Idol does not go head-to-head with many Emmy winners on Wednesday and Thursday nights in the spring and summer. X-Factor, however, is showing its fearlessness in doing so, especially considering that Fox traditionally does not fare strongly in the fall.
Perhaps it also has something to do with not having a choice. Simon Cowell or no, Fox is hardly going to bump American Idol in favor of X-Factor. They already have a show that dominates that season which means X-Factor has to deal with the wolves of fall. In fact, this week is so packed with premiers I had to cancel some things just to catch the two massive two hours blocks that are dedicated to this show. All things considered, for any other show these numbers would be a solid check in the win column, but I doubt Cowell will see it that way. [affiliate article=93]
