There is no let down with Crosby. In a big game he seems to step up at just the right time, in a less important game, he has that capability to explode like all hockey greats can. He has lead playoff scoring in one of the four years the Pens have participated, and has put up great playoff numbers overall, averaging at least a point per game. With Crosby, it really seems to be all of the little things that he does that add up to victories. It’s winning the race to the puck, or holding on to the puck for an extra second, or solid defensive coverage that has resulted in not only his individual success, but more impressively, that of the Pens and Team Canada’s as well.

Ovechkin is, to a certain extent, on the other side of the coin. Yes, he does get his points -- he also averages more than a point-a-game in the playoffs -- but my feeling is his post-season play is somewhat lacking overall. Ovechkin is undoubtedly a ‘game-changer’ and he can turn the opposing team’s gameplan completely upside down in a matter of seconds, but for some reason, he doesn’t seem to get that extra charge in the big games. Come playoff time, Ovechkin looks like he is burdened by the role of trying to carry his team through, and as a result, he lacks the necessary boost to propel himself to the next level. I have the feeling Ovechkin will have plenty of opportunities in the future to right the ship, but for now, Crosby is the man to beat.

Original Six games? That's a thing of the past. This is the Nu-NHL. For better or worse, I don't think O6 games are sotnhmieg worth marketing. For that matter, most of the divisional opponents of the Wings are "ho-hum" games as well. But in other divisions, it is pretty heated and closely contested.I don't want to count our chickens before they hatch, but I don't see a serious threat from anyone in our division to take the thrown away.In an ideal situation in my eyes, I'd like to see more matchups (at least one game each) against Eastern Conference opponents.

Sid the Kid has a while to go before he's the gtreeast player in the world. But all I gotta say is, it's about damn time. I haven't been able to watch hockey on TV for forever been surviving on Yahoo! and Versus online broadcasts and whatever live streams I can scrounge up. Three cheers for the Jan. 1 game! No wonder Fleury was pissed when he got injured.
