The FireMagic DC790-CS-84C Stacked Stone Grill Island is a shell that fits either the FireMagic Echelon or Aurora 790 Grill. Neither the grill nor double side-burners are included in the baseline price, but a drop-down menu on their website provides a quick price comparison. It’s worth noting that the Echelon Diamond series is the newest line in the FireMagic collection.

The modular design of the FireMagic outdoor kitchen allows users to select a double side burner or Diamond side burner, available in both natural gas and liquid propane. The Diamond series is higher end and a bit more costly.

Primary grill options on the FireMagic are an Aurora 790 and a Diamond 790, both of which are available in either Natural Gas or Liquid Propane. The grills are both constructed of 304 grade stainless steel and supply 792 square inches of cooking surface (36” x 22”). The grills are similarly outfitted with a push-button surface ignition, three cast stainless steel E burners, double-walled seamless hood, heat zone separators, and a stainless steel rotisserie kit. Both also use halogen lights.

Overall cooking power differentiates the grill options on the FireMagic outdoor kitchen; the Aurora 790 supplies 113,000 BTUs of power, edging out the Diamond’s 112,000 BTUs. The Aurora grill also uses a ceramic infrared backburner, while the Diamond has a stainless steel foam quantum infrared backburner. The Diamond grill also has a wood-chip smoker drawer with an independent burner.

In terms of design, the Aurora utilizes chrome knobs with rubber surroundings, while the Diamond grill has blue LED safety knobs. The Aurora model also packs a multi-functional digital thermometer while the Diamond grill uses analog.

The Serious Grills Series 96HB Prebuilt Island comes with a Saber 30 stainless steel 30” grill by RCS, along with an RCS double side burner and slide-in, both included in the cost.

The Serious Grills Saber 30 grill provides approximately 600 square inches of primary grilling-space, with an additional 240 square inches of secondary cooking space, offering a total of 840 square inches. It uses Sure Strike igniters with shields, and includes a temporary pilot light. This grill has a 20" stainless steel/ceramic rear burner and hood-mounted heat indicator. It uses stainless steel lighter tubes, and has grilling zone separators, as well as stainless steel flame tamers. The Serious Grills Saber 30 grill also includes a stainless steel rotisserie motor with forks and spit rod. It also has two higher interior halogen lights.

For cooking power, the Saber 30 doesn’t match the power of the two options available for the FireMagic outdoor kitchen; the Serious Grills unit packs 54,000 BTUs. It also includes a 7.5 MM potato rack.

Of the three grills available, the FireMagic Diamond series is the strongest pure performer, and the top appliance in the group. At roughly half the price of the FireMagic alternatives, however, the Saber 30 premium grill packaged with the Serious Grills prebuilt island, comes complete with lifetime warranty and provides the most cost-efficient alternative.
