When the chips are down, the drug game is dangerous. This is not a fact that either of the shows neglect. The difference is really how they deal with it.

Nancy depends largely on her charisma when things go wrong. As I’ve said, she’s incredible at talking her way out of situations or convincing other people to back her up. However, the more people she uses the more depleted her circle of friends has become. At this point. Not even her own sons trust Nancy. Every time she squeaks by, you can’t help but feel that she’s one slip up away from losing it.

Nancy is surrounded, guns drawn on her, in showtime's weeds
walter reaches for his gun, in amc's breaking bad

Walt, however, is at his best when the chips are down. He really has one thing going for him in the drug trade. Walt is smart, really smart. Chemistry isn’t just what he teaches, it’s what he loves. Walt can jury rig a car battery with pocket change. Walt can kill a guy using only beans. Walt can break into a secure compound with an etch-a-sketch. Unlike Nancy, Walt makes his own product. He understands everything about crystal meth inside and out and knows that his abilities make him irreplaceable.

"Breaking Bad" seems like a really funny and good show. I haven't seen the show but I have heard from my c-worker at DISH all about it. I think after reading some reviews I'm going to watch it. Be sure to watch "Breaking Bad" with DISH and save your money rather than waste it on any other company! www.BestTVForMe.com.

  9. sean sean says:
Weeds is silly while Breaking Bad is dark and serious personally i like Breaking Bad a lot more and it is the best show on tv

  10. RayofTheCharles RayofTheCharles says:
I'm convinced Walter was hatched while he was on Malcolm on the middle!

  11. Mangokhanal Mangokhanal says:
if i really wanted you to summarize the two main characters of this show then i would have asked. Where's the commentary and analysis? never in this article is their a hint to where there is a comparison. these are just different facts about both characters and the author finds it necessary to act like she knows both characters personally. if you're going to write about two fictional characters don't act like theyre actuall people. and dont be afraid to critisize and compare them which should be the point of this article in the first place. You dont know them and they dont know you soi promise no feelings will be hurt. if you just let us know how you think one of the characters is better than the other than maybe the the "vs" in your title will actually mean something.

  12. Zach Zach says:
Breaking Bad by a long shot. Weeds is for women.

  13. Chris Died for your Sins Chris Died for your Sins says:
Weeds is about a drug that has positive effects of most people. Breaking Bad is about a drug that has negative effects on everyone, everywhere, especially the people who use it. Walter is evil. Nancy Botwin is hot.

  14. J J says:
Both are quite good, but Breaking Bad will always win in my book. It's simply the superior show. Even if you were to remove the "apples and oranges" comparisons, it's is still better just in terms of sheer quality. The acting and characters in particular are done leagues better in BB than they are in Weeds. Like most comparisons like this, it all comes down to personal preference. In my opinion, Breaking Bad's characters, story, and situations are all far superior. It's more personal, more engaging, and more entertaining. Weeds has always been light-hearted, it's a comedy when you break it down to the raw basics. There's nothing wrong with that, but occasionally I found it did hurt the show's overall quality. In summary: Weeds is a solid 7/10, but, Breaking bad is a 10/10, no matter how you look at it.

  15. Ben Ben says:
I think we root for Walt as you said, because we have hurt people. We're not perfect, and even though we try to be perfect, we become competitive to a point and we want no one above us. It's the human defect, and that is what makes breaking bad great. It shows us how evil, or how far someone will go to survive, or allow our closest loved ones to.
