At a Glance: Boss DD-20 Giga Delay Guitar Pedal
Boss remains the most popular supplier of guitar effects pedals due to how reliable and easy to use their products are. The DD-20’s is no different, with its clean design and digital display allowing any guitarist to quickly create a quality delay sound. These sounds can then be programmed into the memory of the pedal and accessed at any time using the left footswitch. The right footswitch is used to tap the tempo for each delay function, providing great control over the speed of the delay. A key selling point for the DD-20 is that it offers the longest delay time on the market, with each function allowing for 23 seconds of delay. The average cost for this pedal is $250.

At a Glance: Line 6 DL4 Stompbox Delay Modeler
Line 6 has gained popularity with its creative designs and range of functions in each of their unique pedals. The DL4 offers the widest range of delay functions in its price range, with the inclusion of several retro delay sounds. These effects can be pre-programmed and accessed using the first three footswitches, and can be used in conjunction with each other to generate new effects. The DL4 also allows the user to manipulate the overall sound of the delay via the five parameter knobs. The average cost for this pedal is $250.

Head-2-Head
Ultimately, the Boss DD-20 is easy to use for any competent musician, but it lacks the variety of the Line 6 DL4. By using the extensive range of delay functions available on the DL4 a unique sound is never far away.

  1. Shredder Shredder says:
I think Edge uses a Boss FV-300L, but the DD20 gives a similar delay sound.
