Comparison Review - Two and a half men tv show review comparing charlie sheen or ashton kutcher

Two And A Half Men premiered on CBS on September 22, 2003. Starring Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones, the show featured often-raunchy material about a self-indulgent jingle writer, Charlie Harper, his uptight and worrisome brother, Alan, and Alan's underachieving, but lovable son, Jake. Charlie Harper's unrestricted life became complicated when his brother gets divorced and moves into Charlie's beach-front Malibu house with his son. The dialogue was endearing and provided quite a few chuckles as a result of the comedic supporting characters: Jake, Alan, Berta and of course, Rose - 'the relentless and quite pleasant stalker'. It wasn't until a few seasons in that the show really gained momentum and Sheen's fan base grew - largely due to his off screen antics.

However, due to Sheen's personal problems, Season 7 was narrowed down to 22 episodes. Season 8 premiered on September 20, 2010, CBS initially ordered 24 episodes for the season, but due to Sheen's personal life, the show was put on hiatus after only 16 episodes. After a series of comments made by Sheen on February 24, 2011, CBS and Warner Bros. canceled the remainder of the season (episodes 17–24).

Despite the problems surrounding the show's now-absent lead actor and the bitter public dispute attached to Two and a Half Men, the network was not ready to let go of the popular sitcom and its vast viewing audience. Speculation of the show’s demise was over-shadowed by a media frenzy over rumors of a replacement for the lead role.

Men's ninth season serves as the start of the show’s second act. The first episode of the two-part season premiere, "Nice to Meet You, Walden Schmidt", was one of television's most anticipated and watched season premieres in television history - a massive audience of 27.8 million Americans tuned in to watch Sheen's character get killed off and Ashton Kutcher -- as Walden Schmidt -- introduced as Sheen's replacement.

The question lingering, however, is Two and a Half Men as good with Ashton Kutcher as it was with Charlie Sheen?

  1. C Solutions C Solutions says:
Nice match up. I think if the writers would be more effective in their script writing, Ashton's character would do just fine.

  2. JBlast JBlast says:
Charlie Sheen made that show what it is. I like the writing, but alot of people underestimate what Charlie Sheen himself brought to the character and the show.

  3. TheWriter TheWriter says:
I think the entire cast as a whole is what REALLY made the show what it was, and can still be - the writers are an important element of making that happen. Stop trying to bash Sheen with the comments being made on the new episodes, let that "beef" go, otherwise, the show will die a painful death. Move on CBS, give the new show a chance by writing decent scripts. At the rate you're going now, Sheen will be "winning" if you don't stop this personal childest verbal feud. The character, Alan would not be a as uncaring about (Charlie) his brother's death as the scrip now implies, it's rather sad the digs being made at Charlie on the show & it really isn't necessary. The show could work, if you make an effort for it to work. And get rid of Courtney Thorne-Smith as Lyndsey MacElroy - her character is truly a waste, and it's not just her horrible acting (well that too), but she does NOT fit. Bring back Kandi for Alan or even have him pursue Judith, but for the sake of all that's dear, get rid of Courtney Thorne. AND START WRITING DECENT SCRIPTS!

  4. BobbyA BobbyA says:
hmm... my feeling is that neither of the two lead actors, in these roles are worthy of award consideration. Writers...yes but the two stars seem to play the same role over and over again. They clearly have the right personalities and right look to be well received...but as far as true acting talent... I have seen better at a high school play. At the least, Charlie Sheen, despite the fact that he is truly a mental case, is far more entertaining than Kutcher the dizzy brunette

    Charlie Sheen Ftw!!!!!

  6. TheReal_Steve-O TheReal_Steve-O says:
    No way.....Ashton For The Win!!!!

  7. Katie Katie says:
In my opinion they should've ended the show a while ago...the story was getting old from last season when Charlie Sheen was in!

  8. RachelH RachelH says:
How can you even compare ashton kutcher's accomplishments to charlie sheen? Charlie Sheen is a bonafide movie star. Ashton Kutcher was good on that '70s show, but otherwise is just a glorified self-promoter. His career is nothing if you take out twitter and demi moore.

  9. Karen C. Karen C. says:
Charlie Sheen for sure is better. I think both Charlie and Ashton are very talented, but Charlie's character was better. But, my favorite is Berta! I act just like her, or so I'm told. Maybe we're related.

  11. Handy Translator 5000 Handy Translator 5000 says:
Charlie Sheen is definitely better, Ashton is a great actor and very handsome but does not compare with the experience and personality of Charlie. Although the latter have flaws in his personal life, his Professional life and career fits the character very well. I believe that two and a half men already lost its flavor because they removed too many things.
